Most people in prison feel that love & relationships have to be done in a certain way. Of course, even on the street we put up our best front. Our first impressions are even greatest in here where opportunities aren’t as plentiful.
So you get dudes that use all the slick words and showmanship through “Secure the Bag”. Mostly from fear of losing an opportunity. Standards get lowered and a lot of times you end up with these situations where both people are trying to force interests which can only amount to awkward silence on the phone.
I try my best to not let prison trap my mind, so when it comes to being with women I go into it not expecting that every situation is going to be “The One”. The whole purpose of dating is to test your likes & dislikes until you find exactly what you’re looking for and what you have to offer. In the process, you make memories, make friends and gain experience, but the first step is always that initial attraction followed by that initial conversation. Then you find out where it goes from there. Another problem with prison relationships is where prison itself puts us with a disadvantage.Â
How do we compete with guys on the street for quality women? Prison has meant sitting here for years doing nothing with their life and it creates situations where the crux of a conversation is about what your favorite color is. If I can tell the most important thing about me is that regardless of incarceration I NEED substance.
I’m not just sitting here staring at the walls, but if there is a chance of a meaningful relationship I NEED someone with substance themselves. You’ll never get the details of who I am by reading an ad that’s too basic. If you want the full me and are willing to give the full you.. hmu
