In life there are no shortcuts to happiness. Anything that is worth pursuing is going to require us to suffer just a lil bit and this bit of suffering will add value to our relationship, making it so much more meaningful. I’m giving a piece of me to you in hopes of finding that happiness and lifetime memories with you.
Life isn’t about keeping score. It”s not about how many people call you, and it’s not about who you’ve dated or dating or haven’t dated at all. It isn’t about who you’ve kissed, what sport you play, or which guy or gal likes you. It’s not about your shoes, or your hair, or the color of your skin, or where you live or go to school. In fact, it’s not about grades, money, clothes, colleges that accept you or not. Life isn’t about if you have lots of friends, or if you are alone, and it’s not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn’t about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness, and compassion. It’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing the inner hate with love. Life is about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. Most of all it’s about choosing to use your life to touch someone else in a way that could never have been achieved.
I learned relationships of all kinds are like sand held in your hand; held loosely with an open hand the sand remains where it is, but the minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on the sand trickles through your fingers; you may hold on to some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that, held loosely with respect and freedom for the other person; it is likely to remain intact, but hold on too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost. Fact is some people come into my life and quickly go, some stay for a while and leave footprints on my heart, and I’ve never been the same. All I ask is you don’t do the same.
